First Trip to Fantasia - Day 4

Sunday the 11th of July, my final day at Fantasia, rolled around much too quickly. My roommate would be heading back to Saskatoon, I would be heading back to Toronto and yet the festival would go on. Of course, I still had some time to catch a few films before I had to head home so I packed my schedule as full as I could.

Tenth film... Higanjima was a complete surprise to me. I didn't read anything about the film going in as it was simply the first film playing that day that so it was an easy choice to add it to my list.

After almost falling asleep a couple times during Evil: In the Time of Heroes, I was looking for something uplifting and exciting. While some decided to skip the next film in order to see the premiere of Down Terrace, I sat down with fans who were looking forward to some kungpow action.

First Trip to Fantasia - Day 3: Part 1

Saturday marks the first full day of films. After a nice breakfast with friends we headed over to catch a Chilean film from the same guys who brought us Mirageman called Mandrill.

Saturday... enter the first full day of films. If you've never done an entire day of watching movies, you have no idea how tiring it can be. With a film festival, you often don't know whether a film is going to be good or not and you just cross your fingers and hope. With a day full of movies, I find I'm more worried about staying awake after the first few than I am about whether or not they are good. Though a good film is more likely to keep you awake.

First Trip to Fantasia - Day 2: Part 2

Two films down and Fantasia is already both amazing and completely not what I expected. I had one more film to go on the Friday as Rubber was sold out. I tried to get tickets but it didn't look like it was going to happen. No worries, as much as a killer tire movie might be an interesting watch, I was perfectly willing to miss it as well.

Friday roles around and a group of us have decided we are going to check out Predators before starting our day at Fantasia. We're coming from multiple locations so it is determined that we'll meet up at the theatre. Not a problem, I drove in so I have a car. And it's lucky I did because the rain just started to pour cats and dogs. You couldn't see more than a car length in front. Unfortunately, where we thought the movie theatre was according to our search online for the address, didn't turn out to be correct.

My first trip to the Fantasia Film Festival - Day 1

This being my first time going to the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I would be making this trip with the good Mr. John Allison from the website RowThree.com who was making the trip out to Fantasia from Saskatoon (a city in Saskatchewan Canada, look it up) via a short stay in Toronto. Knowing we'd be arriving later in the evening on Thursday (opening night of the festival), I decided to play it safe and not purchase tickets to any of the opening night films.

Fantasia Film Festival announces 2010 lineup

The Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal Quebec is back yet again for another year with a large selection of genre films most people will never get to see anywhere else. I've been debating whether to give you the full list of films, a partial list with a link, or just pick out some that stick out to me and link to the rest. In the end... I've decided go big or go home.
