Oscar Noms Are In!

It's that time of year again when Hollywood hopefuls come together in the hopes of snatching the great prize... Oscar. This year it seems to be a battle between The Artist and Hugo. Who will win? Truth is... this year hasn't been a fantastic year and seeing that only 2 songs have been nominated, The Academy Awards taking place Sunday, February 26, 2012 may end up being the most boring one yet but like always, we'll have to watch to find out.

And the nominees for the 84th Academy Awards are...

Eddie Murphy to host 2012 Oscars

Continuing on in a tradition the awards show seems to have strayed from in recent years, Actor and comedian Eddie Murphy will host the Academy Awards next February.

It will be the first time the star of 48 Hours and Shrek (the voice of Donkey) has served as host for the big night.

"Eddie is a comedic genius, one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever," producer Brett Ratner said in a press release.

Honorary Oscars Announced

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has voted to present Honorary Awards to actor James Earl Jones and makeup artist Dick Smith! They also voted to award the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to philanthropist Oprah Winfrey. All three awards will be presented at the Academy’s 3rd Annual Governors Awards dinner on Saturday, November 12, at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center®.

Oscar winners announced!

In a year that was clearly trying to gear themselves towards a younger audience, I find it odd that I'd have to say this was one of the most boring Academy Awards Shows I've ever seen. I'm not sure Anne Hathaway (as lovely as she is) or James Franco (who's a stunning looking fella) were the way to go. In fact, I'd be pleased if Mr. Franco didn't ever present another award. It's sad when I have to say that the highlights of the night were the stage design, the best memorial ever, and a throw back to the first Oscars.
