The cbc is reporting that Canadian actor Wayne Robson has died at the age of 64. He apparently passed away peacefully at home in his sleep. Robson has been slated to perform in The Grapes of Wrath at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival this season. As such, the 2011 production of The Grapes of Wrath will be dedicated to Robson's memory according to Stratford artistic direct Des McAnuff.
Canadians will probably best know Wayne from his long recurring role in the Red Green show.
Screen icon Elizabeth Taylor passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She had a long history of ill health and was being treated for symptoms of congestive heart failure.
Taylor was married eight times, twice to her frequent co-star Richard Burton, and there were even rumors as recently as 2007 that she might be planning a ninth wedding. Her four children were by her side when she passed.
Reports are coming in that actor Michael Gough has passed away today, March 17, 2011, at the age of 94.
Born in Kuala Lumpur, Gough made his film debut in 1948 in "Blanche Fury" and went on to achieve fame in both television and film.
While younger audiences may associate Michael Caine with Batman's Alfred Pennyworth, those of us who grew up with the Batman films of Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher would more likely consider Michael Gough to be our Alfred.
Rue McClanahan, the youngest of The Golden Girls, died June 3, 2010 at age 76 due to a stroke. The smash hit show ran on NBC between 1985 and 1992. McClanahan's death leaves Betty White as the only surviving Golden Girl.
I knew as I got older that every year I'd hear about the passing of more and more famous people. Some I wouldn't care about others I may have grown to admire their work but it is always disappointing when someone who has made such an impact and starred in some of your film favs passes away.
It's no laughing matter and I'll not go into a bunch of funny one liners and puns though we all know the potential is here. On May 28th, 2010, Gary Coleman passed away from a brain hemorrhage after falling, hitting his head, and suffering an epidural hematoma.
I have yet to confirm it but many websites (including the National Post) are reporting that legendary fantasy illustrator Frank Frazetta has passed away today due to a stroke.
Probably best known for his work on Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan, Frazetta had a unique style that depicted muscular men and scantily clad women fighting ferocious monsters which has become a mainstay in the fantasy and scifi genres ever since.
Zelda Rubinstein, possibly best known for her role in the Poltergeist series, passed away Wednesday at the age of 76.
The actor was hospitalized two months ago after suffering a mild heart attack and rumours had been spreading across the net that she was close to death but her agent, Eric Stevens, has now confirmed she passed away of natural causes at Barlow Respiratory Hospital in Los Angeles.
She will be greatly missed. Her likeness and voice made her one of a kind.
