The nominees for the People’s Choice Awards are out and here’s a breakdown of the movie nominees. You can vote for them here.
Favorite Movie Actor
Brad Pitt
Hugh Jackman
Johnny Depp
Robert Pattinson
Ryan Reynolds
My pick goes to Johnny Depp with Pitt coming in a close second. I don’t think the others really measure up when it comes to these two actors.
Favorite Movie Actress
Anne Hathaway
Drew Barrymore
Jennifer Aniston
Kristen Stewart
Sandra Bullock
Though I think Kristen Stewart is attractive and Sandra Bullock is great at what she does I have to go with Anne Hathaway here as I have really enjoyed her acting even when I didn’t care much for the film (Princess Diaries 2?) and I am really looking forward to her role in Alice in Wonderland
Favorite Action Star
Christian Bale
Gerard Butler
Hugh Jackman
Shia Lebeouf
Vin Diesel
I don’t quite understand the “Action star” category but I guess they had to give some credit to these guys who don’t normally compete otherwise. I have a hard time choosing between Gerard Butler who’s a great actor and Vin Diesel who has done some great action films. Though Christian Bale was The Dark Knight, he was the main thing I didn’t like about the film and Hugh just killed Wolverine. Since I can only pick one, I’ll give my vote to Gerard Butler who I just don’t think will get the support.
Favorite Comedic Star
Adam Sandler
Ben Stiller
Jim Carrey
Ryan Reynolds
Vince Vaughn
I suppose comedy, like action, needs its own category so I’ll pick Jim Carrey. I have truly enjoyed more of his films than the others though Adam Sandler does come a close second.
Favorite Breakout Movie Actress
Anna Kendrick
Emily Osment
Ginnifer Goodwin
Miley Cyrus
Zoe Saldana
I don’t have much knowledge about these ladies so after doing some research I’ll have to choose Ginnifer Goodwin for her role in the very enjoyable show Big Love.
Favorite Breakout Movie Actor
Chris Pine
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Sam Worthington
Taylor Lautner
Zachary Quinto
This is a bit harder to choose from. I think I’ll have to choose Zachary Quinto for his portrayal of Spock in Star Trek.
Favorite On-Screen Team
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson & Rupert Gint (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince)
Ryan Reynolds & Sandra Bullock (The Proposal)
Shia LeBeouf & Megan Fox (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen)
Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson & Taylor Lautner (The Twilight Saga)
Daniel Henney, Dominic Monaghan, Hugh Jackman, Live Schrieber, Ryan Reynolds & Will.i.am (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)
The cast of Star Trek should have been included here as they would be the obvious choice but with what’s available I’d have to go with the Harry Potter clan as they have pretty good rapport on screen.
Favorite Independent Movie
(500) Days of Summer
District 9
Inglourious Basterds
Paranormal Activity
Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail
Though Paranormal Activity does it’s job extremely well and Inglourious Basterds will get a ton of votes I have to pick District 9 which I thought was both very enjoyable and very well made. The concept behind the film was quite interesting and well told.
Favorite Comedy Movie
17 Again
Bride Wars
The Hangover
He’s Just not That Into You
The Proposal
Haven’t seen any of these films (I know it’s hard to believe). But out of all of them The Hangover is the only one I want to see so it gets my vote.
Favorite Movie
The Hangover
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
The Proposal
Star Trek
Twilight
I’d have to pick Star Trek hands down in this group. More enjoyable, lots of re-watch potential, good story, great acting and it’s Star Trek!
