The shark known as Jaws has been found in Los Angeles. In a Los Angeles junkyard to be precise. An NPR reporter tracked down the missing fish in order to fullfill a childhood dream.

Long thought to have been extinct, it is convenient that one of the long lost beasts have been found just in time for the anniversary of the momentus film (and as talks of a 3D remake are stirring). There were 3 sharks created for use in the film. The sharks created for the movie Jaws were apparently destroyed as was confirmed by the films director Steven Spielberg. But many fans remember a large "Jaws" that was on display at Universal Studios. Could it be that one of the famous sharks was saved? Yes... and no.

Seems that when Cory Turner (the reporter for NPR) was researching the giant shark, he discovered that there was in fact a giant shark at Universal Studios AND that it was likely a fourth shark cast from the same mold as the three used in the film but this one was specifically for display at Universal Studios Theme Park, where it hung by its tail for fifteen years.

Where it went after the theme park was a mystery. Turner got on the phone and started calling junkyard after junkyard eventually finding one with a giant shark in it (would be hard to miss I guess).  Turner brought original Jaws art department members Joe Alves and Roy Arboqast to verify the shark's authenticity.

"It's the real one," Arbogast told Turner after examining the creature. "It's just kinda' nice to see it again after 25 or 30 years. It's amazing that it's still here."
