Rue McClanahan, the youngest of The Golden Girls, died June 3, 2010 at age 76 due to a stroke. The smash hit show ran on NBC between 1985 and 1992. McClanahan's death leaves Betty White as the only surviving Golden Girl.
Though not really known for her genre works, she did star or have roles in a few things of note including TV shows such as Columbo, Spider-Man and Murder, She Wrote as well as TV movies The Wickedest Witch, Innocent Victims, Message from Nam, After the Shock, and The Dreamer of Oz. But it was seeing her small role as the biology teacher in Starship Troopers that will probably stand out most to me next to her role on The Golden Girls.
Thank you for being a friend of so many over the years.
