I've been in talks with a few people close to the festival about whether it was actually happening this year and they reassured me it was. Mind you, I still hadn't heard anything official and I'm used to getting a tidal wave of information about the festival well in advance (heck over the course of the year short of the couple months after the festival). Well the creator and all round good guy, Adam Lopez, has made it official.
This year's Toronto After Dark Film Festival is taking place on schedule. So don't fear kiddies, Toronto will get its share of awesome genre films this summer. The website http://torontoafterdark.com has the official festival dates listed as August 13 - 20, 2010.
Calls for film submissions have gone out. The festival welcomes submissions of all forms of international and independent thrilling cinema including horror, sci-fi, fantasy, animation, crime, action, cult, documentary and music videos both in short form and feature-length. The final deadline for this year’s entries is FRIDAY, JULY 2, but filmmakers are encouraged to submit early to save on submission fees. You can get further details here.
You know I'll be at the festival and I hope to see some of you there this year as well.
I hope that I see you all... after dark.
