Cousins Mark and Brian Gunn have been hired to pen Paramount's remake of "The Monster Squad." Rob Cohen, who produced the original film, will produce and direct this new version. Producing the film will be Rob Cohen, Michael Bay (expect explosions), Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.

If you don't know the original film, please go out and rent/buy it before this one comes out.  It is one of my favourite childhood films and though I don't think it needs an update, and I'm sure the re-make will be filled with icky CGI, I'll be out there to see the new verion opening weekend I'm sure.
