Though the Zombie Walk is about 4 months away (October 23, 2010), there are still a lot of things that need to get done. Unlike previous years, the organizers of the event are asking that everyone who plans on attending this year register via their website. This not only allows them to have a better idea of numbers (numbers directly affect costs after all) but if you register you'll get your very own toe tag. Each toe tag will have numbers and be eligible for special prize draws! The toe tag is also necessary to receive the zombie discount at the Bloor Theatre for the after walk special...

Cousins Mark and Brian Gunn have been hired to pen Paramount's remake of "The Monster Squad." Rob Cohen, who produced the original film, will produce and direct this new version. Producing the film will be Rob Cohen, Michael Bay (expect explosions), Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.

If you don't know the original film, please go out and rent/buy it before this one comes out.  It is one of my favourite childhood films and though I don't think it needs an update, and I'm sure the re-make will be filled with icky CGI, I'll be out there to see the new verion opening weekend...

The shark known as Jaws has been found in Los Angeles. In a Los Angeles junkyard to be precise. An NPR reporter tracked down the missing fish in order to fullfill a childhood dream.

Long thought to have been extinct, it is convenient that one of the long lost beasts have been found just in time for the anniversary of the momentus film (and as talks of a 3D remake are stirring). There were 3 sharks created for use in the film. The sharks created for the movie Jaws were apparently destroyed as was confirmed by the films director Steven Spielberg. But many fans remember a large "...

Rue McClanahan, the youngest of The Golden Girls, died June 3, 2010 at age 76 due to a stroke. The smash hit show ran on NBC between 1985 and 1992. McClanahan's death leaves Betty White as the only surviving Golden Girl.

Though not really known for her genre works, she did star or have roles in a few things of note including TV shows such as Columbo, Spider-Man and Murder, She Wrote as well as TV movies The Wickedest Witch, Innocent Victims, Message from Nam, After the Shock, and The Dreamer of Oz. But it was seeing her small role...

I've been in talks with a few people close to the festival about whether it was actually happening this year and they reassured me it was. Mind you, I still hadn't heard anything official and I'm used to getting a tidal wave of information about the festival well in advance (heck over the course of the year short of the couple months after the festival). Well the creator and all round good guy, Adam Lopez, has made it official.

This year's Toronto After Dark Film Festival is taking place on schedule. So don't fear kiddies, Toronto will get its share of awesome genre films this...

I knew as I got older that every year I'd hear about the passing of more and more famous people. Some I wouldn't care about others I may have grown to admire their work but it is always disappointing when someone who has made such an impact and starred in some of your film favs passes away.

Dennis Hopper, star of many many films, passed away on the 29th of May, 2010 after losing his battle against prostate cancer. His genre works include Memory, Land of the Dead, 10th and Wolf, Apocalypse Now, Waterworld, Speed, Super Mario Bros, Space Truckers and a slew of...
